Funke Akindele and her husband in court for hosting party during COVID-19 lockdown


Nollywood actress, Funke Akindele, and her husband, Abdulrasheed Bello aka JJC Skillz, have been arraigned at the Magistrate Court in Ogba for hosting a party during the COVID-19 lockdown.

They were charged to court on Monday for breaching the Lagos Infectious Diseases Regulations 2020 which prescribes a jail term of one month or N100,000 fine or both for persons found guilty of hosting gatherings or flouting the lockdown order.

The actress hosted a house party on Sunday to celebrate her husband's 43rd birthday.


Babatunde Gbadamosi, a former Lagos state governorship aspirant, and popular music star, Naira Marley, were at the party which held on Saturday.

In a video on Twitter, Gbadamosi has apologised for attending the party.

In his apology, he said a celebrity came with many people.

Before her arrest on Sunday night, Funke Akindele also apologised for hosting the party.

She said the people who attended the party, including Naira Marley, have been in her house since the president issued the lockdown directive.

According to the actress, they had converged at her house and studio in Amen Estate to shoot the sequel of her movie, Omo Ghetto.
